Our Story

Three Generations. One Mission.

Shri Navin Ratilal Shah built the firm on a simple belief: that importers and exporters deserved a customs partner who understood their business as deeply as they did. That belief attracted clients who stayed — not for one shipment, but
for decades. Some of those original relationships are still active today, now serving the second and third generations of the same client families.

Through the License Raj era of the 1960s and 70s, when imports required navigating a maze of permits and quotas, the firm earned its reputation by mastering complexity others avoided. When India opened its economy in 1991 — ushering in liberalisation, lower tariffs, and a flood of new importers — M S Mehta & Co had already built the regulatory
muscle to scale with the new India.

The 2000s brought the digital transformation that followed reshaped customs work entirely. The introduction of ICEGATE moved filings from paper to electronic submission. M S Mehta & Co adapted, retraining the team and rebuilding processes around digital workflows — without losing the relationship-led approach that defined the firm from day one.

Then came the GST rollout in 2017, the AEO programme, the rise of e-commerce imports, and the COVID-19 supply chain disruptions of 2020 that tested every logistics firm in the country. Through each shift, M S Mehta & Co’s clients
stayed — because the firm’s commitment to compliance, accuracy, and personal accountability stayed the same.

Today, in our third generation under Managing Partner Parag Shah, we continue that mission. The Bill of Entry is filed electronically now but the relationships behind it are still face-to-face.
